about

The album is the follow up to the duo’s critically acclaimed 2015 EP Medication, which featured the Hype Machine No. 1 single ‘Menton’ and earned the band fans across the board from The Guardian to BBC 6 Music.

On their debut album Carl Coleman and Caspar Hesselager have pushed their unique sound into new territory. Crossing indie, psych, country, motorik, melded with electronics, the self-recorded and self-produced album is an intense, raw and rousing nine-track collection.

From ethereal opener "Dune Wind" through to epic two-track, seven-minute album closer "Dependance/Independence", Palace Winter’s debut is everything that the hype around their debut EP gave them credit for; a supremely accomplished record from an exciting, upcoming duo.

Track Name: Dune Wind
You were spinning like a hurricane
Reaching out from across the waves
You were dreaming of another place
Another name and another face
You were waiting for the tide to change
Anything to keep you entertained
You were looking at the windows break
You were looking at the buildings sway
You were telling me about the chase
Everything is going up in flames
Now you’re leaving me without a trace
You and I will never be the same
Track Name: Hearts to Kill
You walk around looking for a kill
There’s nothing out here but you learn to pretend
You knew the dream was coming to an end
Looking for the hearts you were made to defend
Why'd you wanna watch it turn
(You can hide, you can hide, you can hide again)
Waiting for the world to burn
(We got time, we got time, we got time to kill)
Tonight I saw you go out there
(Looking like, looking like, you could see the end)
Brighter than the fiery air
(You and I, when we die, we could try again)
It’s getting worse, I can hear the sound
Another night spent running scared through this town
You wait in the room and listen for the car
Standing in the dark knowing I've gone too far
Why'd you wanna watch it turn
(You can hide, you can hide, you can hide again)
Waiting for the world to burn
(We got time, we got time, we got time to kill)
Tonight I saw you go out there
(Looking like, looking like, you could see the end)
Brighter than the fiery air
(You and I, when we die, we could try again)
Track Name: Positron
Last night you woke me up
Sitting, waiting like a crow
Drink from the loving cup
You said you really had to go
Last night you woke me up
Said you'd seen my shadow glow
And when I fold you up
You'll tell me what you really know
That’s when it started up
You said you’d had enough
You circled like a shark
I’m hiding in the bar
Not knowing where you are
Last night you woke me up
You said your body turned to stone
And when you tried to talk
You started sinking down below
Last night you woke me up
You said you couldn’t let it go
Drink from the loving cup
And tell me what you really know
That’s when it started up
You said you’d had enough
You circled like a shark
I’m hiding in the bar
Not knowing where you are
Track Name: Soft Machine
I don't wanna sleep
Don't wanna breathe
You're breaking at the seams
You know how to bleed
Now that you and I are free
And I'm off my knees
Fire's moving hazily
Chase me back to where it starts
And I'll play the part
Reflecting in the glass
Cheering like a Queen
For a soft machine
Acting so obscene
Well by all means
Now that you and I are free
And I'm off my knees
Fire's moving hazily
Chase me back to where it starts
And I'll play the part
Reflecting in the glass
Track Name: H.W. Running
When you look at me
Burning in the breeze
Burning like a tree
My mind’s an empty sea
When's it gunna come around again
And what you're gunna see
Is what will break your teeth
Never running free
Searching aimlessly
In your losing hands
Baring tainted plans
You keep them locked away
With thoughts you'd never say
Hiding in the shade of yesterday
Our eyes are intertwined
Your blood forever mine
Until it floods the sky
Tearing down the vines
Flowing aimlessly
Never sets me free
‘Cause I've been burning all this time
Hiding in the fire
Crying for another skin
Like I was a child
Your blood forever mine
Until it floods the sky
Tearing down the vines
Flowing aimlessly
Never sets me free
Track Name: What Happened
He smoked outside the house
With his shadow cast on spouse
And some loneliness remained
Even after all was gained
Inside, the children closed their eyes
Never knew he was falling into the white
What kind of world is this
One where you don’t exist
The only thing they need
Memories begin to leak
He drove all night through storms of ice
Never knew the truth his only vice
And now all the shadows wonder why
Another broken star in a bruising sky
Track Name: Proclamation Day
Breaching light
Streaming through the room
Shining white
Skin of olives' bloom
Tomorrow
Meets the undertow
Taste the stone
Shattering my bones
Following me into a raging sea
Silencing me, waiting impatiently
Covering me in your immortal heat
Everyone sees, everyone else but me
Breaking time
Leaves a kind of stain
Holding tight
Pulling at my veins
Look below
Rivers overflow
Long ago
I could sink alone
Following me into a raging sea
Silencing me, waiting impatiently
Covering me in your immortal heat
Everyone sees, everyone else but me
Following me down
To disappear
Silencing the crowd
To drown for years
Track Name: Dependence
You’re sleeping on your own tonight
You’re sleeping in his head tonight
My dependence on you frightens me
What if they took you away
The light is blinding you tonight
The sheets are grabbing you tight
My dependence on you frightens me
What if they took you away
Sometimes it feels like all too much
And you just run me into the ground
Sometimes it feels like all too much
But then I hear the wind make that sound
My dependence on you frightens me
Track Name: Independence
2 AM and I’m trying to escape
Drinking from your eyes until I fade
